Calcutt Training Centre

CEVNI

Location: Calcutt Boats, Stockton, Warwickshire
Duration: 30mins to 1hour
Certification:
Price: £30 per person

What is the CEVNI test for:

If you are applying for an inland waterways ICC, then you are required to also pass a CEVNI test. The CEVNI test, which checks your knowledge of the rules and signs that skippers of pleasure craft are expected to know and follow on the inland waterways in Europe and the Mediterranean – which in some areas are heavily utilised by commercial traffic.

There is no RYA training course leading to the CEVNI test and it is not a qualification in its own right.

As an RYA Recognised Training Centre (RTC) Calcutt Training is able to offer the CEVNI in person written test and sign the endorsement need for your ICC application.

What is the test process:

The CEVNI test consists of a two-part written paper covering questions on signs and buoyage, with the second section covering lights, shapes, and sound signals.

The test is multiple choice. You will be allowed 30 minutes to complete the test and may have a second attempt if required.

Who can take the CEVNI test:

Anyone wishing to apply for an inland ICC.

To apply for the ICC you must then either hold an RYA Inland Waterways Helmsman certificate or have taken an ICC practical assessment.

Certification

There is no certification for CEVNI and therefore, there’s no need to retake the CEVNI test when renewing your ICC, provided your inland endorsement remains unchanged and your ICC hasn’t expired.

However, if your ICC has lapsed, you may need to retake the CEVNI test to revalidate the inland endorsement.
